As. Betev et al., The effect of molecular transport on turbulent combustion of hydrogen-hydrocarbon-air mixtures, CHEM PHYS R, 18(3), 1999, pp. 599-605
Experimental results illustrating a qualitative behavior of turbulent combu
stion of hydrogen mixtures with methane and butane in air are discussed. Tu
rbulent burning velocities of hydrogen-air mixtures enriched with hydrocarb
ons are shown to vary inversely to changes in their laminar burning velocit
ies. Correlations between the growth of laminar flamelets and turbulent bur
ning velocities at various concentrations of heavy and light reagents are a
nalyzed. The hypothesis assuming that the dependence of turbulent burning v
elocity on the molecular mixture composition is controlled by the represent
ative chemical reaction time at highly curved portions of the name front is
supported.
