Abstract
Highly diastereoselective aldol reaction of alpha-bromo ketones with alipha tic aldehydes was successfully carried out by using titanium(II) chloride a nd copper in dichloromethane at low temperature. Similarly, Reformatsky-typ e reaction of a-bromo thioester with aliphatic aldehydes was promoted under mild conditions to afford P-hydroxy thioesters in good to moderate yields.
