The electrical conductivity of serpentine is measured at 1.0-3.0 GPa and 30
0-870 degrees C, The effect of frequencies on electrical conductivity measu
rement is analyzed. The conduction mechanisms of serpentine before and afte
r dehydration are discussed. Our experimental results show that the electri
cal conductivity of serpentine increases significantly after dehydration of
serpentine, through which highly conductive layers (HCL) can be formed in
the Earth's interior.
