Abstract
A population of the tropical alga Caulerpa racemosa (Forsskal) J. Agardh ha s been studied along the Tuscan coasts (Italy). The cartography of a coasta l area colonised by the alga has been undertaken. Growth and seasonal dynam ics of C. racemosa population have been studied. The results have shown an important increase in the area colonised, from 177 m(2) to 1464 m(2) over o ne year. The species shows important seasonal dynamics, with the greatest g rowth in October and the lowest in April. (C) 1999 Adac/Editions scientifiq ues et medicales Elsevier SAS.
