Abstract
Background/Aim: The aim of this study is to document experience in performi ng ambulatory hemorrhoidectomy under local anesthesia and to examine its fe asibility. Method: 1,530 patients with symptomatic grade III-IV internal he morrhoids underwent surgical hemorrhoidectomy (Milligan-Morgan) between 197 6 and 1991. This was done in the jackknife position under local anesthesia. Result/Conclusion: The Milligan-Morgan hemorrhoidectomy is radical and eas y to perform in a jackknife position under local anesthesia in an ambulator y setting, Copyright (C) 1999 S.
