Ms. Mascia et al., Lack of morphine-induced dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens of cannabinoid CB1 receptor knockout mice, EUR J PHARM, 383(3), 1999, pp. R1-R2
Morphine (10 and 20 mg/kg, s.c.) does not modify dopamine release in the nu
cleus accumbens of cannabinoid CB1 knock-out mice under conditions where it
dose-dependently stimulates the release of dopamine in the corresponding w
ild-type mice. These results demonstrate that cannabinoid CB1 receptors, re
gulate mesolimbic dopaminergic transmission in brain areas known to be invo
lved in the reinforcing effects of morphine. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
