R. Heinkel et al., Verification of a pollination method for breeding new cultivars in Prunus x domestica with the RAPD-technique, GARTENBAUWI, 64(5), 1999, pp. 227-232
In a plant breeding program of Prunus x domestica, progenies were examined
with RAPD-markers over the calculation of the similarity between individual
s. The examination of the used pollination method for breeding new cultivar
s, in which emasculation of flowers was not performed in the self-fertile c
ultivar 'Cacaks Beauty' and the partial self-fertile cultivar 'Ortenauer',
confirmed for well developed embryos in experiments with one pollinator the
performed cross-combination. Self-fertilization occured in a low range, wh
ereby the embryos normally showed a weak development. Experiments carried o
ut with self-pollination, one and two days after pollination with different
cultivars, showed a higher rate of selfing the earlier the self-pollinatio
n was performed.
