Mixing and interdispersion of two immiscible liquids are desirable to promo
te efficient transfer of momentum, mass and energy from one phase to other.
In recent years, bubble columns have found versatile use in both chemical
and biochemical processes. In the present work, an experimental study has b
een aimed at hydrodynamics of liquid-liquid dispersion in a downflow bubble
column. Measurements have been reported on total pressure gradient and dis
persed phase hold up. Dimensional analysis was used for analysing the data
in order to overcome the complex behaviour in the system. Correlations have
been developed to predict pressure drop and hold up of dispersed phase as
a function of different physical and dynamic variables of the system.
