Abstract
A short historic review of the development of occupational health problems and activities in Croatia as well as of relevant legislation, organization of occupational health services, and approaches to education is given. Work ers' morbidity patterns are also briefly discussed. The present orientation and foreseeable needs and tasks are critically evaluated. The role of rese arch in the development of occupational health practice is emphasized.
