Abstract
Transcranial Doppler detection of microembolic signals has been described i n several clinical conditions such as carotid stenosis, prosthetic heart va lves, acute stroke, and carotid surgery. The importance of these events for clinical decision-making is still a matter of debate. The authors review t he literature and report their personal experience on the clinical signific ance of microemboli detection.
