The effects of salary level and organizational level on possible bias in jo
b evaluation were investigated in two studies. In Study 1,328 undergraduate
s were provided with salary information, low or high, and then asked to gen
erate a label for a job description before making job evaluation ratings. T
he effect of salary level on total points was mediated by perceived organiz
ational level. In Study 2, 48 undergraduates were provided with salary leve
l and organizational level information and rated perceived organizational a
nd salary level and made job evaluation ratings. Perceived organizational l
evel mediated the effect of manipulated organizational level on total point
s.
