Due to its spectral properties a dichroism, induced in thin light-sensitive
AgCl films, doped by granular Ag, makes it feasible to record spectra of t
he optical rotation in the visible region. In this paper the experimental d
ata are presented for the recorded rotation spectrum of the optically activ
e crystal. it is shown that the spectrogram recorded contains information a
bout the angle of rotation and the value of the induced dichroism. A new me
thod of determining the dichroism and its dispersion is suggested based on
the study of the spectrogram in white light using a pair of polaroids with
different crossing angles.
