Abstract
A new normalization procedure to bring the relative experimental excitation or ionization scattering data on an absolute scale is presented and demons trated. The problem is solved beyond the first Born approximation, avoiding entirely the extrapolation through the nonphysical region. The procedure i s applicable to optically allowed transitions over a wide range of scatteri ng angles and electron impact energies.
