Cc. Chintiroglou et M. Simsiridou, BIOMETRIC INVESTIGATIONS ON THE CNIDAE OF THE SEA-ANEMONE ACTINIA-EQUINA-MEDITERRANEA FORM-I SENSU SCHMIDT, 1972, Israel Journal of Zoology, 43(1), 1997, pp. 5-11
Biometric variables of Actinia equina mediterranea Form I were correla
ted with one another to identify those that are independent of size, a
nd could therefore be used for taxonomic purposes. The length, surface
area, and volume of the cnidae are correlated significantly with indi
vidual weight of the anemones. The ratios length/width and surface are
a/volume of cnidae were constant over a wide range of sizes, and may,
therefore, be taxonomically useful.
