Abstract
Hydroxylation of alkanenitriles (C-6 to C-10) and of 2-octanone, 2-non anone and 2-decanone by Helminthosporium species NRRL 4671 occurs pred ominantly at the (omega-1) position to give the corresponding (R)-2-al kanols in > 95% enantiomeric purity.
