Abstract
This paper presents the application of the nonuniform orthogonal mesh FDTD method combined with Mur's second-order ABC to structures that have symmetr ical planes. Particularly: it is revealed that, in order to combine Mur's s econd-order ABC with a symmetrical plane, an alternate form of Mur's second -order ABC, instead of its conventional form, has to be employed. The accur acy and efficiency of the proposed FDTD algorithm are confirmed by analyzin g a slot-loaded bow-tie microstrip antenna that has experimental results fo r comparison.
