Abstract
Memory disorders are among the most frequent mental impairments in the elde rly, with the likelihood of dementia increasing with age. The present study deals first with the diagnostic steps required in the fields of psychiatry , physiology and test psychology for classification of cognitive changes in the elderly. Age-induced physiological changes in memory function, mild co gnitive impairment, "pseudodementia" and symptoms of dementia are presented .
