2'-Hydroxy-1,1'-binaphthyl-2-yl phosphate 4 reacts with various alkylating
agents under controlled conditions to give differently alkylated phosphoric
esters 5-9. The monoalkylation of binaphthol 1 with long-chain alkyl halid
es followed by reaction with phosphoryl chloride, propane-13-sultone or chl
orosulfuric acid, respectively, yielded the amphiphilic binaphthyl derivati
ves 14-17. The compounds prepared were fully characterized by spectroscopic
methods.
