Dielectric constants in the glassy state of various ionic mixtures have bee
n calculated from mode-coupling theory. The glass is modeled on a binary sy
stem of charged hard spheres and its static structure is treated within mea
n-spherical approximation. The permittiviry of each model system is found t
o vary strongly along the glass-fluid phase boundary in the density-tempera
ture plane. Maximum values as high as epsilon approximate to 4 X 10(3) are
predicted for the critical permittivity at intermediate packing fractions (
0.1 < eta < 0.3). Changes in the maximum dielectric constant by more than t
wo orders of magnitude are found for the various ionic mixtures investigate
d, which differ in size and charge ratio. [S0163-1829(99)05738-0].
