Abstract
Results are presented from systematic investigations of self-oscillations o f a positive corona in dry or humid air in the pressure range from 10 to 76 0 torr. It is established that sort X radiation generated by a positive cor ona is responsible for air photoionization near the corona electrode. It is found that the corona luminescence, which is uniform in appearance, really consists of a number of small nonsteady current spots, irregularly distrib uted in space.
