Abstract
The effect of the oxygen dissolved on the adsorption of gold in a activated carbon such as these used for carbon in pulp (CIP) and carbon in leach (CI L) processes were studied. The research was oriented to dilucidate the effe ct of the oxygen dissolved in the gold solution on the kinetics and distrib ution of the gold adsorbed in the carbon under differents conditions of ion ic strength, pH and gold concentration. It was found that the level of the oxygen dissolved influences directly the amount of gold adsorbed on the act ivated carbon, being this effect more relevant for low ionic strength solut ions. The pH and initial gold concentration has no effect on this behavior.
