Abstract
This paper presents some results obtained from the modelling of an air cone -jet sensor using finite element method. The results have indicated that a cone-jet sensor has much greater stand-off distance, wider sensing range an d better linearity than a back-pressure air gauge. The results also showed that the sensitivity of the cone-jet sensor increases with the angle of the conical jet, in particular, in the range of 10 degrees-30 degrees. In the range of 30 degrees-45 degrees, this effect was smaller and the Linear meas uring range decreases with the angle of the nozzle in the cone-jet sensor. The sensor design may also be optimised using finite element method. (C) 19 99 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
