Abstract
The applications of thermochromic compounds (cobalt chloride, 3,5-dinitro s alicylic acid) for fibre optic temperature sensors are presented. The senso rs are based on thermochromic layers which utilise solution or polymeric fo il made of polyHEMA. Spectral properties of the compounds were determined i n an array spectrophotometer in order to choose an appropriate analytical w avelength of the sensor. Light emitting diodes (LED) were used as light sou rces in fibre optic sensors. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights rese rved.
