This paper presents some results concerning the saturation magnetostriction
(lambda(s)) in low magnetostrictive Go-rich amorphous wires tested in the
as-cast state and after annealing. The replacement of Co or Fe with small a
mounts of Gr and Ni in nearly zero magnetostrictive Go-rich alloys determin
es small positive or negative lambda(s) values, while the stress current an
nealing changes its magnitude. The saturation magnetostriction has been det
ermined by means of the small-angle magnetisation rotation method and has b
een evaluated as + 0.39 x 10(-6) for Co65.25Fe4.5Si12.25B15Cr2Ni1 and - 1.1
5 x 10(-6) for Co68.15Fe2.35Si12.5B15Cr1Ni1 amorphous wires in the as-cast
state. An increase up to about 5 times and a decrease up to about 2 times o
f lambda(s) was observed for Co65.25Fe4.5Si12.25B15Cr2Ni1 and Co68.15Fe2.35
Si12.5B15Cr1Ni1 amorphous wire, respectively, after stress current annealin
