Abstract
The elimination of LAS (Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate) during composting of anaerobic digested sludge was studied using specific analytical methods fo r LAS. The elimination of LAS was nearly 100%. The study was conducted in a commercial composting plant in ASPE-Alicante (Spain) during two fill compo sting operations rising anaerobic digested sludge om two different sewage t reatment plants. The average half life of LAS during the composting was bet ween 7 and 9 days and the biodegradation process was according to a first o rder kinetics reaction.
