Micellpolymorphism of lyotropic mesophases

X-ray small angle measurements were used to investigate the micelle paramet ers of the column like lyotropic nematic phase N-C, the disk like lyotropic nematic phase N-D and the micellar isotropic L-1* phase. The X-ray studies of the micellar aggregates were completed by, TEM photogr aphs of these phases. The measurements work on the principle of the variati on of both the water content and the n-decanol content. Thus the curvature of the mixed micelles in the lyotropic phases does not change largely. Quantitative parameters as size mid geometry, of micelles in the N-C phase, N-D phase and L-1* phase were obtained and compared.
