Hw. Wechsel et al., Renal cell carcinoma. Immunohistological study to the expression of the inactive form of the pyruvatekinase, UROLOGE, 38(6), 1999, pp. 583-585
Purpose: The inactive form of pyruvatekinase could be established in differ
ent tumours. Purpose of this study was to demonstate the presence or absenc
e of the inactive form of pyruvatekinase in renal cell carcinoma, metastase
s and benign renal tissue by immunohistology.
Method: After deparaffinization of formaline-fixed tissue (5 original tumou
rs, 2 metastases and 5 benign renal tissues) cells were stained (APAAP-meth
od) with Cion DF4 (ScheBo Tech).
Results: All malign tissue showed a positive reactin, inside benign tissue
we saw a positive reaction of endothelial cells however we saw no reaktion
with benign renal cells.
Conclusion: Renal cell carcinoma and metastatic cells show a strong immunoh
istological reaction against the inactive form of pyruvatekinase, no reacti
on of benign renal cells. It should be possible to develope a serological t
umourmarker for renal cell carcinoma.
