Abstract
Fluorescent properties of the Eu3+ and Tb3+ salts of unsaturated carboxylic acids (acrylic, methacrylic, maleic, and fumaric) and the related polymers were studied at 300 and 77 K. As the temperature rises from 77 to 300 K, t he fluorescence intensity of the compounds under study does not decrease, b ut rather significantly increases. It is suggested that the D-5(o) - F-7(j) transitions in Eu3+ are enhanced through a ligand-metal charge transfer st ate.
