alpha] chrysene, C30H50, was isolated from Davallia canariensis, a fern fro
m Tenerife (Canary Islands), and its structure was elucidated. It was confi
rmed to be a pentacyclic molecule, with four six-membered rings and one fiv
e-membered ring. The two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit do no
t differ significantly.
