Abstract
The title compound, (1S, 3S)-(+)-cis-3-acetyl-2,2-dimethylcyclobutaneacetic acid, C10H16O3, forms carboxyl-to-ketone hydrogen-bonding catemers, with a chain of screw-related molecules passing through the cell in the b directi on [O ... O = 2.713 (3) Angstrom]. Two intermolecular C-H ... O=C close con tacts were found to the acid carbonyl. Comparisons are made with the crysta l structure of the racemate.
