The North American Indian Alliance (NAIA), located in Butte, Montana, condu
cted a mental health needs assessment from December, 1991 to June, 1992. Th
e goals of this assessment were to identify unmet health needs, obtain inpu
t regarding the need for additional services, and identify barriers to prov
iding and accessing services. Surveys of mental health service providers (n
=30) and consumers of NAIA services (n=74) were conducted. The results of t
hese surveys and their implications for service provision are explored.
