We measured serum soluble Fas ligand (sFasL) in a patient with natural kill
er cell lymphoma, and investigated relationship between sFasL and liver dys
function. An elevated level of sFasL was decreased after local radiation th
erapy, and liver function improved. When lymphoma relapsed, liver dysfuncti
on reappeared and the level of sFasL increased parallelly, Lymphoma cells e
xpressed mRNA of Fast. This suggested that this liver dysfunction was induc
ed by some remote effecters, and sFasL was one of candidates of these effec
ters. (C) 1999 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
