This study investigates the efficacy and tolerance of dorzolamide topically
as an alternative to acetazolamide in 9 patients with secondary inflammato
ry glaucoma associated with juvenile chronic arthritis. After 6 months on d
orzolamide, 6 patients still responded to topical treatment with significan
tly lower intraocular pressure (12.1 +/- 1.6 mm Hg) compared with acetazola
mide therapy (18.3 +/- .7 mm Hg). No clinically significant side effects we
re reported.
