Since the discovery of X-ray diffraction techniques, this has enabled the d
etection of internal microstresses (of mode II) caused by capillary forces
during the removal of pore-confined water for the first time. The effect of
polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol on residual internal stresses
was studied quantitatively. The results were discussed within the basic co
