The results of the electrophoretic investigations and coagulation of intact
and inactivated Chlorella vulgaris, st. 18 cells in electrolyte solution w
ith different cation valence are given. The substantial differences in elec
trophoresis and coagulation in the intact and inactivated cell suspensions
have been detected. The physico-chemical model of the double layer (DC) of
an intact cell taking into consideration the interconnection of the electro
kinetic and transmembrane potentials has been proposed. (C) 1999 Elsevier S
