Abstract
The synthesis and reaction chemistry of second and third series late transi tion metal oxo and imido complexes are examined. The often serrendipitous s yntheses are analyzed and catagorized into general types and according to t he metal group, A brief survey of reaction chemistry reveals great diversit y ranging from nucleophilic reactivity to oxygen atom and nitrene transfers .
