We present the results of Monte Carlo simulations of the three-dimensional
Edwards-Anderson model of spin glasses with binary (+/-J) interactions. We
provide direct evidence for the finite-size-scaling hypothesis and we deter
mine the universal scaling functions. Using an iterative method for extrapo
lating data to infinite volume, we reach (overlap) correlation lengths larg
er than xi similar to 200. This allows us to clearly identify a finite-temp
erature phase transition. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All r
