Abstract
As part of an overall revision of the Asian Clarias catfish species, eviden ce is provided demonstrating that the four syntypes of C. macrocephalus ori ginally described from Thailand and presently an economically important fre shwater fish species in South-East Asia, include two species. Two of them a re designated lectotype and paralectotype of C. macrocephalus, while the tw o others are referred to the C, batrachus species complex. A redescription of C. macrocephalus is given.
