Abstract
Two independent syntheses of 5-hydroxy-6-hydroxymethyl-7-methoxy-8-methylfl avanone (1), which was supposed to be natural leridol, demonstrated that th is structure assignment was wrong and that the natural flavanone leridol wa s indeed 5-hydroxy-8-hydroxymethyl-7-methoxy-6-methylflavanone (2).
