Abstract
The fundamental solutions are obtained for a unit concentrated electri c potential discontinuity and unit concentrated displacement discontin uity in a three-dimensional piezoelectric medium. Displacements and st resses are derived by application of the boundary integral equation me thod. These expressions are used to obtain the stress intensity factor s for a circular crack in Part II of the study.
