Abstract
We propose a simple method for interconnecting a group of optical network u nits (ONU's) dispersed throughout the customer premises, yet retaining the features of the conventional passive optical network (PON) system. A fiber Bragg grating on the feeder fiber near the star coupler reflects the light from an ONU and broadcasts it to all ONU's through the coupler. We experime ntally demonstrated its feasibility using two wavelengths: one for the conv entional PON and the other for internetworking ONU's.
