Catalytic hydrogenation of acetylenic alcohols using palladium complex of fullerene C-60

Catalytic properties of Pd-fullerene complex eta(2)-C60Pd(PPh3)(2) have bee n studied in the hydrogenation of acetylenic alcohols. The kinetics of the homogeneous hydrogenation has been investigated under static conditions. Th e catalyst quantity and the initial concentration of acetylenic alcohol hav e been varied. Physico-chemical properties of Pd-fullerene complex have bee n studied using methods of H-1 NMR, IR- and UV-spectroscopies. Using experi mental results and physico-chemical investigations, the mathematical model of the process and the reaction mechanism have been offered. (C) 1999 Elsev ier Science B.V.
