Abstract
Electrocardiography and echocardiography were used for the study of prevale nces of abnormal atriogram and left atrial enlargement in a sample of open male population in Novosibirsk. The sample comprised 830 men aged 25-64 yea rs. According to echocardiographical data prevalence of left atrial enlarge ment was 28%. Results of percentile analysis gave basis for suggestion of t he following upper limits of populational normal values for parameters of a triogram and left atrial echocardiographical indexes: P-II duration 0,11 se c, time of left atrial intrinsic deflection 0,06 sec, left atrial index (ra tio of left atrial dimension to body surface area) - 2,44 cm/m(2), ratio of left atrial dimension to diameter of the aortic root - 1,52.
