Typical properties of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVM) copolymers were determin
ed. These properties were compared with the chemically similar polyacrylate
polymers and ethylene-methylacrylate copolymers, Common tendencies relatin
g to the composition were established. A reduction in the ethylene content
caused an increase in oil resistance and a fall in low-temperature flexibil
ity. A new process which enables higher viscosities to be achieved helps to
remove certain difficulties in processing. EVM is a cost-effective alterna
tive to polyacrylate rubber grades.
