Abstract
Human bornavirus RW98, whose genome differs by 3-4% from previous isolates, is almost identical to a rat-adapted laboratory strain. Other human bornav iruses are also strongly related to virus strains frequently used for exper iments in the various laboratories reporting human bornavirus, questioning a human origin of isolates known to date.
