Abstract
Wave-splitting of Maxwell's equations on a curved surface in three-dimensio n is derived from the conditions for out-going and in-coming waves. The con dition for out-going wave is used to derive an absorbing boundary condition on a non-planar surface. A local approximation of the absorbing boundary c ondition is given. As a special case, a spherical absorbing boundary which truncates the computational domain is also considered in detail. (C) 1999 I MACS/Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
