Abstract
A windowless gas target was developed for the production of secondary high- spin isomer beams (HSIB). An O-16 target in the compound form of CO2 gas wa s used to produce a Sm-145m beam by using an O-16(Xe-136, 7n)Sm-145m reacti on. The target gas pressure was kept constant at 50 Torr. A target thicknes s of about 1 mg/cm(2) was achieved with a 10 cm target length. Gas was reci rculated and the consumption was very little. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V . All rights reserved.
