Abstract
We show that, in the limit of zero string coupling, g(s) --> 0, the thermod ynamic partition function of matrix string theory is identical to that of t he finite temperature, discrete light-cone quantised (DLCQ) type IIA supers tring. We discuss how the superstring is recovered in the decompactified R --> infinity limit. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
