Abstract
Linear diffraction gratings that provide strongly asymmetric diffraction wi thout surface modulation are created and studied. The spatial phase shift o f the refractive-index grating relative to the absorption grating is the or igin of nonreciprocal behavior. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America.
