Experimental studies of the structure of transition elements

The experimental methods for high resolution emission spectroscopy of line- rich elements are briefly described. A review is given of the general atomi c structure of the neutral and singly ionized transition group elements. De tails of the structure are compared between elements within a period and ho mologous elements in different periods. Measurements of hyperfine and isoto pe structure are dicussed, with examples from recent work.
